На часовой башне Вестминстерского дворца торжественно оповестил о приходе нового дня. Лист отрывного календаря на стене показывал 24 декабря.

Известно, что Лондон называют столицей дождей. Этот город во многом консервативен, как и его жители, а потому с трудом меняет свои привычки. С чего бы это ему взять и измениться? Что за повод такой? Праздник! Ну, и что? И все это прекрасно знают. И никого давно не удивляет – дождь в Рождество.

— Эх-хе, — протянул полицейский, натягивая парадную форму – желтую куртку с шашечками по подолу и красивый черный шлем с кокардой. – Вот тебе и Рождество…

Его сегодня ждал непростой денек. Питер Брукс, а именно так звали полицейского, работал регулировщиком на одной из главных улиц города. Сами можете представить каково это… да еще в такую погодку.

Улицы Лондона были буквально запружены. Люди спешили кто куда: одни бежали по настоящим делам, других поглотил «рождественский шопинг», но большинство носились суматошно в поисках подарков родным и близким. Дети щебетали, мамы тянули их за руку, папы старались не упустить из виду и тех и других. И, несмотря на непогоду в городе пахло пихтой и хорошим настроением.

Автомобили с включенными фарами тянулись по шоссе длинными пестрыми лентами, как праздничные гирлянды, – желтые, зеленые, синие. Над маленькими компактными машинками гордо возвышались красные «Рутмастеры» — двухэтажные автобусы, из окон которых любопытные пассажиры наблюдали за предпраздничной суетой.

Питер Брукс нес свою службу, не покладая рук в полном смысле этого слова. Оказалось, что вдобавок к неудавшейся рождественской погодке на перекрестке сломался светофор. И Питеру приходилось неустанно размахивать своей полосатой дубинкой, пропуская поочередно потоки машин и пешеходов. Он был как дирижер перед большим академическим оркестром. Постепенно он вошел во вкус, и ему самому стало нравиться, как на дороге меняется движение, словно по мановению волшебной палочки. И тут случилось непредвиденное.

Не успел Питер взмахнуть в очередной раз полицейским жезлом, как новенький розовый «Бентли» буквально сорвался с места. Но откуда не возьмись на пути у него возник ярко-оранжевый зонт. Он, словно, пролетел перед автомобилем и остановился у ног полицейского. Раздался визг тормозов, отозвавшийся громким «ахом» в толпе прохожих.

— Ах, — вторила общему «аху» красивая дама в самом расцвете лет в белом пальто и белом боа, выглянув из окна автомобиля. – Боже мой, какой стресс! Я чуть не лишилась чувств! Но я ведь ни в чем не виновата? Правда, сэр? – с некоторым сомнением произнесла она.

— Ни в чем! Только в том, что вы слишком торопливы, – подтвердил справедливый полицейский.

— Но я и, правда, очень спешу! Я еще не успела купить подарки своим внукам, а их у меня целых пять!

— Проезжайте, мэм, пожалуйста. Не создавайте пробку, – поторопил ее Питер. — С Рождеством Вас и удачи на дороге! А вас, Оранжевый Зонтик, я попрошу предъявить документы!

Мистер Брукс был серьезным и даже немного суровым человеком. Больше всего на свете он уважал закон. И терпеть не мог, когда кто-то нарушал правила, тем более правила дорожного движения.

— Вы нарушили правила! Это все очень серьезно, и последствия будут необратимы, – строго произнес он, и для острастки дунул в свой серебристый свисток: «Трю-ю-ю!»

— Но у меня нет документов. Я всего лишь маленькая девочка, — послышался тоненький голосок.

Питер заглянул под зонт и увидел растерянную малышку с большими голубыми глазами, полными слез. На макушке у нее болтался оранжевый бант.

— Меня зовут Молли Кларк. И я вовсе не собиралась нарушать правила движения! Просто я потерялась и специально нашла вас, чтобы вы нашли меня! Ведь вы полицейский! А значит, вы меня обязательно найдете, и вернет домой к моим родителям! — добавила она уверенно. – Я ведь поступила правильно?

Питер просто не нашелся что возразить, потому что это было абсолютно по закону.

Пока Питер и Молли беседовали, снова взвизгнули тормоза. На сей раз это был синий старый «Роллс-ройс» годов еще 70-х. Из него выскочил бородатый старичок в клетчатом костюме и принялся громко кричать:

— Дожили! Средь бела дня в самом центре города кошки под колеса бросаются! Ну, и порядки у нас! – И действительно, из-за колеса автомобиля показалась мокрая взъерошенная кошка. Вид у нее был весьма жалкий. И не удивительно, у нее ведь не было зонта.

Кошка попыталась улизнуть, но не тут-то было.

— Стой! – сурово притормозил ее Питер Брукс. – Немедленно подойдите сюда! По какому праву Вы переходите дорогу в неположенном месте?

— Извините, дорогой полицейский. Я нечаянно! Я просто сбилась с пути, – замурлыкала кошка.

— Как ваше имя и фамилия? – Питер достал блокнотик и собрался что-то записывать.

— Потеряшка, а фамилии у меня пока еще нет.

— Так значит, ты тоже потерялась? – участливо поинтересовалась Молли.

— Ничего подобного! – возмущенно промяукала кошка. — Это меня потеряли! Навсегда! – и она гордо задрала кожаный носик в небо, а потом три раза дернула усами, так как прямо на него упала капелька дождя. – Но если честно, то меня просто выгнали из дома, вымели поганой метлой.

— Ты, наверное, натворила что-то ужасное!

— Ничего особенного… Я просто хотела попробовать кусочек… совсем маленький. Тем более это была не настоящая индейка, а пробная. Хозяйка так сама сказала… Вот я ее и попробовала. И она оказалась такой вкусной, что я просто не смогла удержаться… Такое ароматное мягкое мя-мя-мяу-со, просто м-м-м-мяу! – И Потеряшка закрыла глаза от восторга, вспоминая душистое лакомство.

Такого безобразия Питер Брукс потерпеть уже не мог.

— Ах, так ты еще и воровка! — он вновь схватился за свисток. Полицейский уже хотел было дунуть и крикнуть: «Держи вора!» — но Молли его остановила.

— Сэр Полицейский, не сердитесь, пожалуйста. Она ведь это сделала не специально!

— Нет уж. Я не могу так просто на это закрыть глаза. Это ведь преступление!

— А вы и не закрывайте, а то, как я буду с вами разговаривать, если я буду вас видеть, а вы меня нет. Тем более Потеряшка сама во всем призналась, честно и добросердечно. А значит, ее нельзя наказывать слишком строго. Это ведь тоже по закону. Я это знаю, просто мой папа – адвокат.

Питер Брукс на минуту задумался и заявил:

— Ну, вот что, некогда мне тут с вами долго разговаривать. Нужно срочно доставить вас по домам!

— Меня можно просто отпустить! – предложила кошка. — Никогда, никогда я не вернусь в свой старый дом! – а потом тихо добавила, — просто меня обратно никогда не пустят!

— Ну, и что же ты будешь делать?

— Так и буду Потеряшкой. Буду бродить по улицам города в поисках лучшей жизни. Вдруг мне все-таки повезет.

— Но это неправильно! Кошки не должны болтаться по городу без присмотра! – грозно возмутился Питер Брукс. — У всех должен быть дом, даже у кошек!

— А хочешь, я возьму тебя к себе? – предложила Молли. – Только ты должна мне пообещать никогда ничего не воровать! Согласна?

— Еще бы! Очень согласна! Клянусь, что не стащу без спроса ни одной сосиски! Даже на стол не буду заглядывать! – и Потеряшка завиляла от радости хвостом, прямо как собака! И даже встала на задние лапки, чтобы лучше рассмотреть свою новую хозяйку.

— Вот и чудесно! – успокоился полицейский. Потому что во всем должен быть порядок!

— Ну, и какая же ты теперь Потеряшка, раз ты нашлась? Давай дадим тебе другое имя, — предложила Молли. – Какое тебе нравится?

— Мне… мяу… Розалинда. Оно гордое и немного гламур-р-рное! – сказала Потеряшка и выгнула спину, как будто в поклоне.

— Чудесное имя! А теперь видите нас домой, сэр Полицейский!

Питер Брукс быстро нашел дом Кларков. На то он и был хорошим полицейским. Родители Молли просто с ног сбились и оборвали все телефоны в поисках своей дочери. А потому были несказанно счастливы, увидев беглянку. И, несмотря на сдержанный английский нрав, бросились всех целовать. Даже кошку Потеряшку-Розалинду, которая теперь тоже стала членом их семьи. Родители поздравили Питера с наступающим Рождеством и поинтересовались, чем он собирается заниматься завтра вечером?

— Буду смотреть телевизор, а потом лягу спасть, — вздохнул Питер.

— С семьей?

— Ну, что вы. У меня и кошки-то нет. Не могу позволить себе такую роскошь. Слишком много работы, — слукавил он.

— Ну, это тоже неправильно! У всех должен быть не только дом, но и друзья. Как же можно праздновать праздник одному! – возмутилась Молли.

Полицейский Питер и сам понимал, что это непорядок! Поэтому он сразу же согласился, когда Молли и ее родители пригласили его завтра на рождественский ужин с самой настоящей, а не пробной индейкой.

Вот так и случилось. Молли нашла Питера, Питер нашел родителей Молли, Потеряшка-Розалинда нашла себе новый дом, а этот дом приобрел еще одного доброго друга. Все друг друга нашли!

Питер Брукс пришел в гости не с пустыми руками. Он принес большой рождественский пирог и искусственный снег – такую специальную пенку в тюбике. Молли и Розалинда побрызгали ей скамеечки в саду, кустарники, оконные рамы. И даже немного хватило на дорожки и крыльцо. Это было самое настоящее Рождество!

Да, забыла сказать, что у Молли была старшая сестра Кларисса, очень даже хорошенькая и умная девушка. А Питер Брукс был вполне даже интересным мужчиной, а не только хорошим полицейским. И они друг другу даже очень приглянулись! А это знаете, что может означать?..

Christmas is Christian holiday that celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ. For millions of Christians throughout the world it is the happiest and the busiest time of the year. No one knows the exact date of Christ"s birth but most Christians celebrate Christmas on December 25. The word Christmas comes from Christes masse, an early English phrase that means Mass of Christ.

People of different countries celebrate Christmas in various ways. People in the United States and Canada decorate their homes with Christmas trees, wreaths and ornaments. City streets are filled with coloured lights; the sound of bells and Christmas carols can be heard everywhere.

Children write letters to Santa Claus and tell him what presents they would like to get. Many department stores hire people to wear a Santa Claus costume and listen to children"s requests. People send Christmas cards to relatives and friends. Many companies give presents to their employees.

A Christmas tree is one of the main symbols of Christmas in most homes. Relatives and friends may join in trimming the tree with lights, tinsel, and colourful ornaments. Presents are placed under the tree. On Christmas Eve or Christmas morning, families open their presents.

Many children believe that Santa Claus arrives on Christmas Eve in a sleigh pulled by a reindeer and brings presents. Some children hang up stockings so Santa Claus can fill them with candy, fruit and other small gifts.

In many parts of the United States and Canada groups of people walk from house to house and sing Christmas carols. Some people give singers money or small gifts or invite them for a warm drink.

Many people attend church services on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning. They listen to readings from Bible and singing Christmas carols.

A traditional Christmas dinner consists of stuffed turkey, ь mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce and a variety of other dishes. Some families have ham or roast goose instead of turkey. Pumpkin pie, plum pudding, and fruitcake are favourite desserts.

Книга, создавшая праздник: Чарльз Диккенс

Образ английского Рождества хрестоматиен: за окном метель, в натопленной комнате накрыт стол, горят десятки свечей, красиво наряженные дети поют рождественские хоралы и получают подарки... Этот образ мало связан с реальностью - хотя бы потому, что в декабре на улицах современного Лондона проще увидеть клумбы с цветами, чем сугробы. Творцом «английского Рождества» стал Чарльз Диккенс, а точнее - его первая и самая известная праздничная повесть «Рождественская песнь в прозе». Необычное русское название прижилось в нашей культуре благодаря переводу Татьяны Озерской, сделанному в ХХ веке. А в XIX веке повесть Диккенса, переведенная почти мгновенно после выхода оригинала в 1843 года и ставшая невероятно популярной в России, называлась «Святочная песнь». И это название более точно отражало суть книги, ведь в оригинале она называется «A Christmas carol». Carol - это аналог русских колядок, народных духовных куплетов, которые и взрослые, и дети распевают на Рождество.

Хотя большинство современных российских детей с повестью Диккенса незнакомы, имя ее главного героя им прекрасно известно. Это банкир Скрудж, образ которого студия «Дисней» позаимствовала у Диккенса для своих анимационных сериалов. Имя Скрудж происходит от английского глагола screw (притеснять, скряжничать, скаредничать) и давно уже стало нарицательным обозначением скряги-грубияна. Повесть Диккенса посвящена чудесному преображению Скруджа из злого монстра в щедрого благотворителя, которое происходит в Сочельник. Диккенс в «Рождественской песни» создает яркий и запоминающийся портрет «старой доброй Англии», который складывается из зажаренного гуся («величиной с ребенка»), пудинга, огня в очаге, игры в фанты, крепкого эля, танцев. Это исключительно семейный праздник; «троица молитвы, еды и питья», как выразился знаменитый писатель Гилберт Кий Честертон. Вдохновленные красотой образа доброго, спокойного, семейного праздника, британцы в середине XIX века начали активно воплощать его в жизнь и продолжают делать это до сих пор. Почти в каждой современной английской семье есть «Рождественская песнь» Диккенса, часто в сочетании с другими его рождественскими текстами (позже он написал «Сверчок за очагом», «Колокола», «Битва жизни», «Одержимый»). Во время Адвента Диккенса читают маленьким британцам в детских садах и в школах, причем нижней возрастной границы для такого чтения не существует.

Воспоминания о Рождестве: Дилан Томас

Российский Новый год сложно представить без фильма «Ирония судьбы». А английское Рождество отмечено обязательной декабрьской радиотрансляцией повести Дилана Томаса «A child"s Christmas in Wales», русский перевод которой был опубликован под названием «Детство. Рождество. Уэльс». Имя Дилана Томаса прекрасно известно всем ценителям поэзии, ведь он - один из лучших английских поэтов ХХ века, к тому же очень любивший выступать по радио.

Если Диккенс создал идеальную картинку английского Рождества, то Томас автобиографически воссоздал реальность этого праздника. «Детство. Рождество. Уэльс» - небольшой прозаический текст, своего рода «поток сознания», мгновенно переносящий автора и читателя в заснеженный Уэльс начала века. «Наш снег не так вот просто-напросто лили с неба из ведер с белилами, он шалью стлался из-под земли, он выплывал, он вытекал из древесных стволов, и побегов, и веток; и все крыши за ночь порастали нежным и снежным мхом, белый плющ мигом обегал все стены, и немое, штормовое, белое крошево рождественских открыток обрушивалось на входящего во двор почтальона…» Подарки, гости, пудинг, пожар от очага, ветер над заледеневшим морем, снежки и сугробы, замерзающие птицы - все эти картины наплывают одна на другую, создавая удивительную иллюзию подлинности. И хотя, на первый взгляд, Дилан Томас пишет сложно и непрозрачно, многие взрослые англичане признаются, что именно «A child"s Christmas in Wales» было в детстве их любимым рождественским чтением.

Письма Рождественского деда: Джон Рональд Руэл Толкин

Английское Рождество, как и многие наши отечественные праздники, возникло на стыке христианской и язычески-народной традиций. Дата 25 декабря совпала с древнегерманским Йолем, языческим праздником зимнего солнцестояния, «возвращения солнца», главным героем которого был Прадедушка Йоль. Ну и кто же мог лучше всех выстроить связь между Йулем, Санта-Клаусом и Христом? Конечно, сэр Толкин - оксфордский профессор, знаток англосаксонских древностей…

У Толкина было четверо детей: Джон, Майкл, Кристофер и Присцилла. В книге «Семейный альбом» Джон и Присцилла вспоминают детство: «В рождественское утро - подобно тысячам других детей - нам разрешалось заглянуть в чулки и развернуть тщательно выбранные для нас подарки. Однако, кроме подарков, мы каждый год получали письмо от самого Рождественского Деда, со штемпелем “Северный полюс” и самой что ни на есть настоящей “северно-полюсной” маркой!»

Автором этих писем-картинок был отец, глава семьи. Первое письмо от имени Father Christmas, Рождественского Деда, Толкин написал трехлетнему Джону в 1920 году. Последнее получила 14-летняя Присцилла в 1943-м. Это были не банальные поздравительные строчки, а живой и очень личный диалог: Дед радовался успехам детей, жаловался на задержки с оленями, интересовался семейными новостями, рассказывал о жизни на Северном полюсе. Дети Толкина бережно сохранили эти письма и опубликовали их после его смерти. Сегодня на английском языке существует несколько изданий «Letters from Father Christmas» и в виде книг, и в виде коробочки с конвертами, откуда вытаскиваются сами письма. На русский язык переведен только текст; изумительных картинок Толкина русскоязычные дети пока увидеть не могут.

«Письма Рождественского деда» интересны не только как рассказ об английском Рождестве. В первую очередь, это интереснейший памятник семейной культуры. Попробуйте ежегодно писать и рисовать каждому из своих детей письма, наблюдая за их жизнью как бы со стороны! Это неоценимый психологический опыт, причем важность его велика и для детей, и для родителей. Ведь именно так воспитывается у человека умение дарить, а не «отдариваться по поводу», умение получать нежданные, не прошенные подарки, умение вместе радоваться и удивляться.

Рождественские дары и подарки: Беатрис Поттер и О.Генри

Во всем христианском мире Рождество - единственный из всех религиозных праздников, считающийся праздником детей. И во всем мире в этот день детям дарят подарки. Смысл этих традиций очевиден: в этот день родился Божественный младенец, и вся земля склонилась перед ним со своими дарами. В небе засияла Вифлеемская звезда, волхвы принесли в пещеру золото, ладан и смирну, пастухи привели свои стада. На протяжении многих столетий дети разных народов получали подарки два раза в год: в день собственного рождения и в день Рождества Иисуса. Поэтому редкая рождественская книга обходится без темы подарков. Но подарки бывают разные. Российским читателям хорошо известны рождественский рассказ О.Генри «Дары волхвов». Правда, в нашей стране эта бессмертная история о бескорыстном дарении считается подростковым чтением, а вот в Англии ее читают и пяти-, и восьмилетним детям.
Еще одну очень популярную детскую «подарочную» историю рассказала и нарисовала Беатрис Поттер. Хотя в России уже издано несколько книг этой писательницы, повесть о портном из Глостера («The Taylor of Gloucester») с иллюстрациями автора у нас пока можно прочесть только в интернете. Эта бесхитростная история повествует о том, как в день Рождества мыши помогли бедному портному в срок закончить важную работу в благодарность за то, что он спас их от кота. И с той поры он стал богатым и известным.

Почему так важно прочесть детям эти истории? Потому что речь в них об одном и том же: о подарке-действии, подарке-поступке. Книги О.Генри и Беатрис Поттер показывают ребенку истинную сущность подарка и немного уводят его от потребительски-коммерческого отношения к празднику.

Чудо Рождества: Оскар Уайльд

В Англии, в отличие от России, никогда не было гонений на христианство, и религиозная «сердцевина» рождественско-новогодних празднований совершенно естественна для современных британцев. Суть Рождества - чудо: каждый год христианский мир отмечает чудесный приход Иисуса в земной мир. Поэтому вполне закономерно появление религиозных тем и персонажей в детских рождественских книгах. Один из примеров -сказка Оскара Уайльда «The selfish giant», которая в русских переводах называется по-разному: «Эгоистичный великан», «Злой великан»; «Великан-эгоист», «Великан, который думал только о себе». Этот необычайно красивый текст рассказывает о саде, принадлежавшем одному великану. В саду всегда царила зима, поскольку великан обнес сад высокой стеной и не пускал в него детей. Но вот однажды… «Он увидал поразительное зрелище. Через небольшое отверстие в стене дети пробрались в сад и сидели на ветвях деревьев. На каждом дереве был маленький ребенок. И деревья так радовались возвращению детей, что тотчас же покрылись цветами, и нежно качались их ветви над головами малюток. Всюду порхали птицы и восторженно щебетали, и цветы выглядывали из зеленой травы и смеялись. Это была прелестная картина; только в одном углу по-прежнему царила зима. Это было в самом отдаленном углу сада, и там стоял маленький мальчик. Он был так мал, что не мог достать до ветвей и только ходил кругом дерева, горько плача. Бедное дерево все еще было покрыто инеем и снегом, и Северный Ветер бушевал и ревел над ним». Великан помог малышу забраться на дерево, и оно тут же покрылось цветами необыкновенной красоты. Много лет стареющий Великан ждал возвращения малыша. Это случилось перед самой его смертью; ребенок предстал перед Великаном с двумя ранами от гвоздей на руках и ногах, назвав их «ранами любви»…

Христианская этика входит в сознание британцев с самого раннего детства, не прячась и не скрываясь под маской светской морали. Сказочные притчи о милосердии, добре, внутренней красоте писали Оскар Уайльд, Клайв Льюис, Джон Толкин. Чтение этих сказок в рождественские дни совершенно естественно для британцев и вызывает неоднозначные ощущения у эмигрантов из России. Вот как их описывает Наталья, десять лет назад переехавшая из Петербурга в Манчестер и воспитывающая троих детей: «У нас сказки Уайльда читают, в лучшем случае, в школе. Здесь, в Британии, его дарят двух-трехлетним детям. В первые годы я не могла читать “The selfish giant” своим маленьким дочкам. Ведь у нас никто и никогда не говорит с детьми о религии легко и спокойно. Либо звериная серьезность учебников, храмов, музеев, либо пофигизм и атеизм семьи. А вот так, взять и просто прочесть трехлетнему ребенку про райский сад и раны любви… Я не могла, в ужасе думала, как мне это объяснить дочке, начала лепетать что-то про Христа, Распятие. А муж вдруг остановил меня: “Не надо ничего объяснять. Уайльд уже все сказал”. И так и есть. Вот ведь как британцы умеют - не мораль читать, а сказку рассказать. И все ведь ясно, правда? Наверное, это и есть те самые христианские ценности, которые европейцы впитывают с детства…»

The Beginning
Narrator: this is the story of Santa Claus, or Saint Nicholaus and how he, a real person, became in the modern world Santa Claus;
St. Nicholas: I"m Nicholas, Bishop of Myra. That"s in Turkey.
Narrator:: I don"t care for turkey myself. I prefer chichen with salad.
St. Nicholas: I don"t eat Turkey. I lived there. Now I am a Saint?
Character 1: Why?
St. Nicholas: I did lots of good things for people. My parents were rich, but I gave away my inheritance. I did miracles that helped people.
Character 1: like what?

THREE girls appear on stage:

Three girls together: Remember us, Bishop Nicholas?
Girl 1: Our family was very poor.
Girl 2: Our father had no money for our dowries; so we could not find husbands.
Girl 3: We were ready to go out on the streetsto beg money, and become slaves
Girl 1: You came by our house in the dark of night, and you left a bag of gold for each of us.
Girl 2: You threw it into our chimney so nobody would know
Girl 3: And it landed in the socks that was getting dry by the fire
Girl 1: And these presents saved us all!
Girl 1: I found a wonderful husband.
Girl 2: I used mine to get a good education.
Girl 3: I started my own business.

All Girls: You were so kind, Saint Nicholaus (singing, leave the stage)
Saint Nicholaus: Does that remind you of something?
Narrator: But You don"t look like Santa Claus.
Saint Nicholaus: LikeA distant cousin, I should say.
in Holland and Germany.
On the feast day, I would come through the villages
after the children were asleep
and leave candies and coins in their shoes.
I wanted them to have a little taste of the wonderful gift
on Christmas day.
European settlers brought me across the sea to the New Land.
the American genius for advertising gave me a new life

Santa Claus is a good hearted soul.
But Sometimes he forgets where he came from.
Narrator: Oh, I see. This is how the story should ben told. And now let’s follow Santa to the magic forest where he is getting ready for Christmas

SCENE 1
Magic creatures are appearing one by one on the stage, reading poems, hugging each other.
Magic Creature 1:
Merry Christmas!
Isn’t it fun
To say “Merry Christmas”
To everyone?
Magic Creature 2:
Time for a party
And presents and things
That makes all happy
And give their hearts wings!

Magic Creature 3:
Trimming trees in stocking feet
Eating all we want to eat.
Giving presents to our friends
This is how the whole year ends.

Magic Creature 4:
Santa comes
To bring us toys
Giving us many
Christmas joys.

Magic creature 5:
I like to visit Santa Claus
When Christmastime is near.
It’s fun to climb up on his lap
And whisper in his ear.

Magic Creature 1: Look! There is a note hanging from the Christmas tree!
Magic Creature 2: Let’s read it! Maybe it’s a present for us

All come to the Christmas tree. Horrible music sounds, then A voice reads out the message: “I hate Christmas! I’ve taken Santa Claus from you! You will have no Christmas!
Magic Creature 3: No Christmas?
Magic Creature 4: No Presents?
Magic Creature 5: No candies?
Magic Creature 1: We must do something!
Magic creature 2:Let’s find Santa!

Two Fir tree come out on stage.
Fir Tree 1Up, down, all around
You run ,sing, jump and play!

Magic creature 3: Let’s dance for the trees!

Magic creatures call the “O form” to dance and sing a Christmas song.
“Make a circle…”. In the end they put Christmas decorations on the trees.

Look what We see
You’ve decorated the tree!
Now I’ll help you
As you helped me!
A fir tree gives a piece of a map to one of the creatures. As the “0” leave the stage, the voice reads out:
This is the first part of the map where Santa is kept. Follow it to make Santa free. You should help elves (?) and they will give you the rest of the map
All creatures leave the stage.

Scene 2
Magic creatures come out one by one on stage
Magic Creature 1: Where are we? This is a strange place!
Magic Creature 2: Look at the map! Are we at the right place?
Magic Creature 3: I think we are. But I’m not sure.
Magic Creature 4: Look! Someone is coming! Maybe he knows where we are!
Magic Creature 5:Let’s ask him to help us. Maybe he knows the way!
A snowman appears on the stage
A snowman:
A chubby little snowman
Had a carrot nose.
Along came a rabbit
And what do you suppose?
That hungry little bunny,
Looking for his lunch,
ATE the snowman"s carrot nose.......
Nibble, nibble, CRUNCH!
Magic Creature 1: Why are you so sad?
A snowman: A bunny ate my nose yesterday and nobody wants to play with me (crying)
Magic Creature 2: We want to play with you!
Magic creature 3:We like playing games!
Magic creature 4: Our friends enjoy games too
Magic creature 5: Form 1! Come and play with us! We know, that you like playing!
1form comes on stage singing a song about a snowman.
The first formers bring a carrot as they appear on stage. They pass the carrot from 1 person to another and then finally give it to the snowman. The snowman turns away and appears with the new nose!
Snowman: I am so happy now! I’ve got a new nose and new friends! Let’s play a game!
The snowman comes down from the stage and shows the movements to the 1st formers. The 1st formers repeat after the snowman
A chubby little snowman
Hold your arms in a circle to make a fat belly .
Had a carrot nose.
Point your forefinger out from your nose.
Along came a bunny.
Hop like a bunny
And what do you suppose?
Turn palms upward and shrug in disbelief.
That hungry little bunny
Rub your tummy.
Looking for his lunch
Shade your eyes, as if looking into the distance.
Ate that snowman"s carrot nose
make a movement as if eating a carrot
Nibble, nibble, CRUNCH!
Jump and clap your hands

A snowman: Thank you, little ones! I am happy again. And can I help you in any way?
Magic Creature 1: Oh, we’re looking for a Santa. Grinch took him away!
Magic Creature 2: We need another piece of the map.
Magic creature 3:Do you know where to find it?

Magic creature 5: And without Santa Claus there will be no presents, no fun, no sweets!
A snowman: It happens so that I’ve got a map …somewhere…Oh, let me see… (takes a piece of the map from his pocket) Here it is! Take it!
Magic creatures: Thank you. (Everybody leave the stage

Scary music. Magic creatures appear on stage
Magic creature 1: What a creepy place!
Magic creature 2: Where are we now?
All stop. You can hear weeping….
Magic creature 3: Listen! Somebody is crying!
Magic creature 4: Look! A bear! And he is crying!
All creatures come to the bear
Magic creature 5: Dear bear, why are you crying?
Baby bear: I’m lost! I can’t find my family
Magic creature 1: I think I saw a family of bears on our way!

Two magic creatures run away from the stage and come back with the 1stformers who are dressed as a bears (have a bear mask) and are singing a song: “A bear went over the mountain”

Little bear: Thank you! I am with my family and friends now. By the way, what are you doing here in the middle of nowhere?
Magic creature 1: We’re looking for Santa Claus!
Magic creature 2: Grinch took him away!
Magic creature 3: We need a map to continue our way!
Magic creature 4: We want to have a Christmas party!
Magic creature 5: There will be no fun without Santa Claus and his bag with presents!
Little bear: Wait! I think I saw a piece of a map near my tree (goes from the stage and reappears with another part of the map). Is that it?
Magic creatures fit the part of the map, say goodbye to the bears and leave the stage. The bears leave the stage from the opposite side.

Scene 4
Sound of gusts of wind. Magic creatures appear on stage
Magic creature 1: This place is full of snow.And a strong wind is blowing!
Magic creature 2: It’s so cold!I’m freezing!
Magic creature 3: Me too! What are we doing here?
Magic creature 4: I am scared! I don’t like this place.
Suddenly they hear sound of music. The stop at the end of stage and watch snowflakes appear to the music.
Form 2 appears on the stage dressed as snowflakes. They dance a snowflake dance (to the sound of music - waltz? Snowflake dance from nutcracker).
When snowflakes see magic creatures, they stop
Snowflake 1: Who are you? Why are you here?
Snowflake 2: What are you doing in our kingdom? Who let you come to this place?
Snowflake 3: Let’s turn them into the icicles! They will stay here forever.
Snowflake 4: Let’s freeze them into statues! They will make good decorations for our kingdom!
Magic creature 1: Wait! Don’t turn us into statues!
Magic creature 2: We want to learn how to dance!
Magic creature 3: And you dance so well!
Magic creature 4: Teach us how to dance!
Magic creature 5: We want to dance like you!
Snowflake 1: I like their words.
Snowflake 2:I think this creatures are kind!

Snowflakes call the 2nd formers. They dance (the girls) and the boys sing the song
